Murder Ballads [Incest Songs]
Mick Harris / Martyn Bates
Sub Rosa
The final chapter of the Murder Ballads trilogy by MJ Harris and Martyn Bates — and its most fully realised expression. Where Drift and Passages explored post-isolationism through voice and single instrument, Incest Songs opens onto a more labyrinthine sonic architecture built from overlapping, saturating, blurring layers of Martyn Bates' voice: calls and responses, muted echoes, sung whispers, counter-melodies resolving into a mesmeric conversation.
First time on LP vinyl. Originally conceived in the mid-90s and re-emerging thirty years later, it remains an area almost entirely unexplored by other artists. Four tracks across four sides. Limited marbled double vinyl.
