Placebo RE:CREATED
Placebo
Elevator Lady Ltd
Thirty years on from their debut, Placebo return to the record that introduced them to the world — and the result is one of the most intriguing anniversary projects in recent memory. Placebo RE:CREATED sees Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal go back to the original master tapes and bring three decades of playing these songs live back into the recordings, with additional production by Rob Kirwan and mixing by Adam Noble. It's a director's cut of their extraordinary 1996 debut: not a remaster, not a remix, but a genuine reimagining.
When Placebo first appeared in 1996, they stood in stark contrast to the prevailing Britpop cultural mood. While British guitar music leaned into laddish nostalgia and national identity, Placebo delivered something altogether more provocative and confrontational — addressing sexuality, androgyny, addiction and alienation with an honesty rarely heard in mainstream rock. Nancy Boy and 36 Degrees remain era-defining singles; Lady of the Flowers, Bruise Pristine and Teenage Angst are among the most emotionally direct songs of the decade. All ten original tracks appear in reworked versions, joined by two bonus tracks — Drowning By Numbers and H.K. Farewell — pressed on a hidden white 7" vinyl included with both vinyl editions.
The standard LP features the main album on black vinyl with the bonus 7". The Deluxe 2LP adds a second disc of remixes — Bionic (Sirens 12" Club Mix), Bruise Pristine (Sirens Legato Remix), Swallow (Sirens World of Shadows Remix), I Know (Sirens Triceps Are Better Remix) and Lady of the Flowers (Electric Friends Remix) — alongside the 7". Out 19th June 2026 on Elevator Lady Ltd.
